Day Trip to Kanazawa

Five of us JETs decided to go down to Kanazawa for a day. We had a delicious bowl of Kyushu-style ramen at a packed restaurant to start the day off right. Then we explored the historical samurai district to collect footage for one JET's upcoming video.

Oyama Jinja
This shrine bears the symbol of Maeda Toshiie, a general in the 1500s who was once ruled over Kanazawa. The shrine is unique because of its Dutch-inspired stained glass window on the third floor. There's also a large statue of Toshiie in front of a koi pond nearby. The day was such a rush, it was so pleasant to sit next to the pond and relax awhile.
Along the Noto Kaido (the coastline expressway)
On the way home we drove to a section of the beach where the sand is so hard-packed you can drive on it! From there we parked and watched the sunset on the Sea of Japan. It was so surreal looking out of the windshield and seeing the waves lapping at the shore. It was the perfect end to the day.

This is real, everyday life?? :D
